Abstract:

The ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT) or more accurately described as the ‘Internet of Everything’ (IoE) is the idea that everyday objects have some sort of network connection, whether that is over Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or others. This connectivity allows for the transfer of data to control our surroundings. As members of the AT community it is important to leverage the IoT to best serve clients and their families. This presentation details our current standing, future, and importance of a connected world; paying particular attention to how this affects assistive technology.
