Abstract:

Featuring principles of design and group problem solving, Assistive Technology Innovations, will be offered at Tufts University in Spring 2017. Funded through the Tufts Innovates Grant the goal of this proposal was to form a cross-school collaboration among Occupational Therapy (OT), Human Factors (HF), and Mechanical Engineering (ME) to provide opportunities for interdisciplinary student groups to work closely with clients with disabilities to collaborate on authentic projects and to promote entrepreneurial, client-centered thinking. Assistive Technology Innovations, will combine the relevant problems OTs need to solve concerning people with disabilities with the user-oriented investigations of HF and the fabrication knowledge of engineers.
