Assistive products enable people to participate in sport across a spectrum of engagement levels (from watching, cheering, practicing). There is existing literature regarding use of assistive technology for elite level para-sport. However, there is a gap in our understanding when it comes to every-day assistive products and how these may enable engagement in sport. The World Health Organization’s (WHO) Global Corporation on Assistive Technology (GATE) Initiative has published a priority list of 50 assistive products which member state governments should provide to their citizens with a requirement. The aim of this research is to understand how the WHO’s GATE Priority Assistive Products (APL) impact participation in sport across all levels of engagement.
