Currently air travel for powered wheelchair users can be a nightmare. Each air carrier has their own list of information they collect from the passenger and the procedures vary for preparing, loading and unloading Assistive Technology for Mobility. Most powered wheelchairs were never designed to withstand the rigors of air travel. This session will review a new RESNA standard that will address these problems. The goal is to streamline the travel process for mobility device users and reduce the damage that often occurs. Desirable mobility device features for air travel will be presented.
