Abstract
Access to appropriate assistive technologies (AT) is a human right. Since the enactment of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability, disability and AT are a priority in the development agenda. Over 1 billion people need AT but only 10% are accessing in low-and-middle income countries. The problem is complex and needs a systemic approach to solve it, including individuals with disabilities, trained providers, governments/policies, service delivery, and appropriate/affordable products. Through the lens of the initiatives of the International Society of Wheelchair Professionals attendees will explore current opportunities and challenges to achieve equitable access to wheelchairs globally.
