Abstract
The RESNA Wheelchair standards are recognized worldwide as a means to quantify and verify the performance, safety and durability of all types of wheelchairs. The results of testing are used by government agencies to assure that end users have the safest, most durable equipment available. However, the test data can also be used by rehab specialists to help determine the benefits provided by a mobility device to the end user. The key to using this test data is knowing how the data was determined and the relationship of the data to the type of mobility device being reviewed.
Learning Outcomes
- Choose the “least stable” configuration of a wheelchair seating system.
- Identify the fixture used to determine seating measurements.
- Choose the RESNA test section that determines the strength and durability of a wheelchair
