Farmers never retire. Farming is a different employment culture. They own and live on their farm and mentally rarely leave the farm. They continue to farm as long as they are able. Farming presents problems and barriers farmers have adjusted to or problem-solved their entire career. Aging brings additional physical and mental barriers different from those presented by the farm. Those barriers can be more difficult because they are on a more personal basis. This presentation will explore the aging process, barriers encountered by farmers while aging, and methods of overcoming or minimizing their effects.
