Research Committee – Call for Volunteers

Are you an assistive technology researcher?  RESNA’s new Research Committee is looking for volunteers!  The committee will be involved in the following:

  • Serving as an expert resource to the RESNA Board of Directors on topics and issues related to assistive technology research and policy
  • Advocating for assistive technology research support through NIDILRR and other funding agencies and foundations.
  • Supporting a strategic plan research project on measuring the value of RESNA’s certifications
  • Developing and communicating guidelines on assistive technology research for researchers, policymakers, and payors

Laura Rice, PhD, MPT, ATP is chairing this committee. Dr. Rice is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health and Kinesiology at the University of Illinois.  Her research focuses on the management of secondary impairments associated with physical disabilities and increasing quality of life and community participation. She is the director of a Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center (RERC) focused on supporting people aging with long-term disabilities.

Time Commitment:

  • The Research Committee will meet monthly for one hour, at a time and date chosen by the committee.
  • In between meetings, committee members may be asked to read and/or draft materials for committee review.
  • Committee members may also be asked to contact specific individuals and/or groups on behalf of the committee.

Please note, you must be a RESNA member to participate on this committee. NIDILLR grantees are encouraged to volunteer.
