Students

The RESNA Annual Conference offers several different ways for students to learn about exciting careers in rehablitation engineering and assistive technology, make connections, and engage with policymakers, researchers, clinicians, product developers, suppliers and manufacturers.

If you are interested in being a part of an industry that helps people with disabilities live more independently, then the RESNA Annual Conference is the place to be.

Student Scientific Paper Competition

This annual competition is a unique opportunity for students to showcase their research to leaders in assistive technology, including clinicians, engineers, researchers and industry. Students are invited to submit papers (2,000 word limit) about describing their research. The student authors of the best papers are invited to attend the RESNA Annual Conference. These papers are included in the conference proceedings, and authors are asked to present their work. Pending funding, winners and runner-ups receive cash prizes.

Student Design Challenge

For over 30 years RESNA's Student Design Challenge has showcased creative and innovative assistive technology designs that help people with disabilities function more independently. Student teams represent a wide variety of disciplines including mechanical, electrical, and biomedical engineering; computer information science; architecture; and physical and occupational therapy. Semifinalist teams receive an all-expense paid trip to the RESNA Annual Conference, where the final judging takes place. SDC winners have frequently moved on to become leaders in the field.
