RESNA’s certification testing company, Prometric, resumes testing for essential service programs on May 1. RESNA's ATP & SMS certifications have been deemed essential service programs. The opening of individual testing centers will be contingent upon local regulations. If you have scheduled an exam, you may check the status of your testing center here. Prometric has also announced new policies that will take effect once testing centers in the US and Canada reopen. Please read Prometric’s complete notice on how the coronavirus is impacting testing.
Prometric is extending a liberal rescheduling policy due to COVID-19. Candidates that are impacted due test center closures or other concerns related to COVID-19 will have the $100 reschedule fee waived. If you have been impacted and need additional help rescheduling, please contact RESNA at email@example.com.
RESNA offers two certifications to recognize assistive technology (AT) service providers who have met a national standard of job-based knowledge and experience. By promoting the professionalism of AT service providers, RESNA's certifications ultimately serve to protect consumers of AT solutions.
Assistive Technology Professional Certification
The Assistive Technology Certification (ATP) recognizes demonstrated competence in analyzing the needs of consumers with disabilities, assisting in the selection of appropriate assistive technology for the consumer’s needs, and providing training in the use of the selected device(s).
The ATP examination is a 200 item multiple choice exam tests competency in the broad field of assistive technology practice.

Seating and Mobility Specialist Certification
The SMS certification is a specialty certification for professionals working in seating and mobility. The program is intended for clinicians, suppliers, engineers and others involved in seating and mobility service provision.
