RESNA’s certification testing company, Prometric, resumes testing for essential service programs on May 1. RESNA's ATP & SMS certifications have been deemed essential service programs. The opening of individual testing centers will be contingent upon local regulations. If you have scheduled an exam, you may check the status of your testing center here. Prometric has also announced new policies that will take effect once testing centers in the US and Canada reopen. Please read Prometric’s complete notice on how the coronavirus is impacting testing.
Prometric is extending a liberal rescheduling policy due to COVID-19. Candidates that are impacted due test center closures or other concerns related to COVID-19 will have the $100 reschedule fee waived. If you have been impacted and need additional help rescheduling, please contact RESNA at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Earn the Seating and Mobility Specialist Certification.
The SMS certification recognizes demonstrated competence in seating and mobility assessment, funding resources, implementation of intervention, and outcome assessment and follow-up.
The Seating and Mobility Specialist (SMS) is a specialty certification for professionals working in seating and mobility. While the ATP is a broad-based exam covering all major areas of assistive technology, the SMS exam is focused specifically on seating, positioning, and mobility. The program is intended for clinicians, suppliers, engineers and others involved in seating and mobility service provision.
