Therefore you are in the best position to structure preparation activities to meet your needs. Suggested resources noted here should serve as a starting point to plan your preparation activities. ATP Fundamentals Course Overview
Led by a RESNA authorized instructor and current ATP, this training seminar provides a comprehensive review of assistive technology concepts and industry best practices, covering the 5 domains of the ATP Body of Knowledge (ATBOK):
- ASSESSMENT OF NEED
- DEVELOPMENT OF INTERVENTION STRATEGIES - ACTION PLAN
- IMPLEMENTATION OF INTERVENTION (ONCE FUNDED)
- EVALUATION OF INTERVENTION (FOLLOW-UP)
- PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
Several types of activities are used throughout the course to reinforce topics and increase knowledge retention. These activities include open ended questions from the instructor to the students, matching and poll questions, group activities, open/closed questions, and group discussions. This interactive learning technique is based on sound adult learning theories.
This training course will help candidates review and refresh their assistive technology knowledge and help identify areas they need to study for the ATP exam.

RESNA Announces Online and In-Person ATP Fundamentals Course

Online instructor-led courses will meet two times per week in the evening for 2 hours. Course length is 4 weeks (please review complete session schedule). All class sessions will be recorded for unlimited view and review by course participants – including 90-day access following the last class. All participants will be granted access to their course instructor for the duration of the class schedule.
Online Practice Exams
RESNA has developed a 50-question online practice exam for ATP candidates. For a $99 fee payable by credit card, you will have 60 minutes to complete the practice exam. When you complete the exam, or at the end of the 60-minute session, you will be provided a diagnostic report that shows your overall score (passing/not passing), all questions that you have answered correctly and incorrectly as well as providing you with the correct answer.
Reference Books from RESNA Press
The following reference books are available for purchase from RESNA Press. Note that these books are general reference texts for the assistive technology field which many certificants have found helpful for general review of AT topics, but they are not endorsed by RESNA as an exam study guide, as the questions on the exams are not drawn directly from these books. A form for ordering these books and other publications is available on the RESNA website store.
Fundamentals in Assistive Technology, 4th Edition:This is the resource manual designed specifically to be used in conjunction with the Fundamentals in Assistive Technology course offered by RESNA at various times and locations. It contains twelve modules written by experts in the field along with course handouts, references, and other information presented in the Fundamentals course.
Assistive Technologies: Principles & Practice – 4th Edition,by A. Cook & J. Miller Polgar: This is a basic textbook for training individuals to become assistive technology practitioners (written at graduate student level), articulating the principles underlying the practice of assistive technology service provision and is highly recommended for practitioners and suppliers in the field.
Using these resources as a study guide, ask yourself:

- Can you apply the information to your daily AT service provision, to other areas of assistive technology, to the overall needs of a client who would use various forms of assistive technology?
