Continuing Education Policies

The following policies apply to RESNA's continuing education activities:

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

RESNA awards two types of CEUs for its continuing education activities: IACET CEUs and RESNA CEUs.

IACET CEUs are awarded for learning activities that comply with IACET standards. For activities for which IACET CEUs will be awarded, attendees will be required to successfully pass a quiz based on the learning outcomes and complete an evaluation survey before the CEU transcript will be issued.

IACET CEUs are awarded as follows:

  • Per IACET standards, 1 IACET CEU = 10 contact hours. Therefore, RESNA awards 0.1 IACET CEUs for each contact hour of the continuing educational activity.
  • Fundamentals Course: 1.4 CEUs (7 contact hours X 2 days X 0.1)
  • One-hour webinars: 0.1 CEUs (1 contact hour x 0.1)
  • IACET CEU decimal values are rounded to the nearest tenth.

RESNA CEUs are awarded for less formal educational activities; participants will be required to complete an evaluation survey. Completing a quiz may be required, depending on the activity. RESNA awards 0.1 RESNA CEU for each contact hour of the continuing educational activity:

  • One-hour webinar: 0.1 RESNA CEU (1 contact hour x 0.1)
  • 1.5 hour workshop: 0.15 RESNA CEUs (1.5 contact hours x 0.1)
  • RESNA CEU decimal values may be rounded up to the nearest thousandth.

Documentation, Records, and Privacy

Upon completing all the requirements for a learning activity, the learner will be issued a CEU transcript. (If IACET CEUs are being awarded for the event, then the CEU transcript will include the IACET "Approved Provider" logo.) RESNA retains continuing education records for a period of 7 years after the learning activity completion date. Attendees may request one duplicate CEU transcript at no additional charge up to 6 months after the learning event has ended. After that, a $16 duplicate CEU transcript fee may apply.

To protect learners' privacy, RESNA does not share information with third parties about learners' continuing education activities other than to confirm the information that appears on the CEU transcript. It is the learner's responsibility to provide a copy of his or her CEU transcript to third parties who request documentation of completion of RESNA continuing education activities. Learner records, including transcripts and records of attendance at events, will only be released to the learner via a direct written request from the learner.

Please submit duplicate CEU transcript requests to info@resna.org.

Payment

Continuing education activity fees are published on the RESNA website. For live events, including courses and webinars, payment in full must be received by RESNA prior to the registration deadline or, with the permission of RESNA staff, the start of the event. For self-paced activities (i.e. AT Journal Quizzes, archived webinars), payment in full must be submitted at the time the order is placed.

Cancellations and Refunds

For in-person courses, customers will receive a 100% refund only if they cancel their registration at least 5 business days before the start of the course. After that, cancellations up through the first day of the course are subject to a 10% cancellation fee. After the first day of the course, no refunds will be issued. In cases of emergencies, customers may submit a refund request along with accompanying documentation to the RESNA; these refunds will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

For remote activities, such as webinars, customers will receive a 100% refund only if they cancel their registration at least 3 business days before the event date. After that cancellations up through the day of the event are subject to a 10% cancellation fee. After the date of the event, no refunds will be issued. In cases of emergencies, customers may submit a refund request along with accompanying documentation to the RESNA; these refunds will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

For AT Journal quizzes, RESNA will not issue a refund if the quiz has already been graded. For archived webinars, RESNA will not issue a refund once the customer has been given access to the requested recording.
