Title: Theodoor: An Easy-Install Automatic Door Opener
Speakers: Dr. Jeff Ackerman, Co-Founder & CEO, Doorbotics and Sevy Swift, Co-Founder & COO, Doorbotics
Abstract: Door access remains a daily barrier for many wheelchair users, people with mobility limitations, and older adults who want to live independently. Doorbotics is developing Theodoor, a robotic door opener that installs in minutes, making standard residential doors automatic without permanent door or frame modifications. This session will introduce the door-access problem, show how Theodoor unlatches and opens a door using a key fob, app, or smart-home trigger, and discuss how lower-cost, portable door automation can support aging in place, independent living, rehab clinics, and assistive technology lending programs.
