Title: Unusual barriers to effective pressure relief for clients with neuro-progressive disorders

Speaker: Amber L. Ward, MS, OTR/L, BCPR, ATP/SMS, FAOTA

Abstract: There can be barriers for clients with progressive disorders who are power wheelchair users and their caregivers that prohibit them from performing pressure relief. These are often less common reasons and may not be solved by more education about pressure relief. This webinar will focus on these barriers and potential solutions for this complicated population. Numerous cases will be presented for discussion.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Identify at least 3 barriers to adequate pressure relief in the neuro-progressive population.
  2. Identify at least 3 solutions for management of pressure relief in the neuro-progressive population.
  3. Discuss the multidisciplinary or community providers who can provide management solutions and how to find them.
