Wheeled Mobility and Seating

Wheeled Mobility and Seating

We are the largest and one of the most active special interest groups in RESNA. Members work in all areas of equipment provision: therapists, engineers, equipment suppliers, and equipment manufacturers.

Wheeled Mobility and Seating SIG is also responsible for the creation of several position papers and a Wheelchair Service Provision Guide. A "RESNA Position Paper on Clinical Practice" is an official statement by the organization that, based on the consensus of experts and evidence, summarizes current research and best-practice trends in relevant areas of Assistive Technology. The position papers state the necessity (medical and/or functional) of specific assistive technology devices and services under appropriate circumstances, and assist practitioners in decision-making and justification. The position papers are not intended to replace clinical judgment related to specific client needs.

The purpose of the Wheelchair Service Provision Guide is to provide an appropriate framework for identifying the essential steps in the provision of a wheelchair.
