Abstract: The Home Observation Pediatric Evaluation (HOPE) is a novel and innovative tool based on the ICF model to assess children’s activity independence and participation via home videos. In this session we will present HOPE and provide the participants with the opportunity to experience scoring HOPE, by observing videos of children with various disabilities performing activities at home. Participants will learn about the significance of using home videos to assess children with disabilities, by presenting a scoping review on home videos for remote assessment in children with disabilities. We will explain about the development of HOPE, provide results of a pilot study conducted with 8 families to assess HOPE’s feasibility and usability, as well as partial results of a larger validation study currently underway. Participants will give feedback on scoring and items of HOPE.
Learning Outcomes: By the end of this session learners will be able to describe the uses of parent-provided home videos for remote assessment of children with disabilities. By the end of this session learners will be able to describe the HOPE assessment tool and its development. By the end of this session learners will be able to analyze videos of children with disabilities according to the ICF model, as utilized in HOPE.
