Workplace Ergonomics: Physical Therapy PSG Meeting

Date: Wednesday, June 1, 2022 - Wednesday, June 1, 2022
Location: Zoom

Physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other professionals working in Assistive Technology often have the background to excel in the practice of ergonomics, but often lack the basic training required to succeed in this niche field. The word “ergonomic” has become ubiquitous, but what does it really mean?

This session on June 1, 2022 from 7pm - 8pm Eastern will be hosted via Zoom by the PT PSG chair Allison Sevillano in conjunction with the PT PSG's meeting. Geared towards PTs, OTs, and other AT professionals interested, attendees will learn more about the science and practice of ergonomics. Office ergonomics will be the primary focus of this session, but will also touch on ergonomic applications in medical and industrial settings. This is an introduction to the applications of ergonomics, and how to become an ergonomist as either a side hustle or career change.

Participants will:

  • be lead through the steps of a sound ergonomic evaluation
  • be shown examples of common equipment recommendations, and
  • have the opportunity to perform a virtual ergonomic assessment themselves upon conclusion of the course.

Date: June 1, 2022
Time: 7pm - 8pm ET
Location: Zoom
