Note-Worthy Accommodations

Taking notes when you have a disability is challenging.  Difficulties range from writing, keeping up, maintaining focus and accessing the information at a later date.  From a professional perspective, there are tons of tools available to assist with note-taking, how do you know you’re recommending the best one?  This presentation will discuss barriers to note taking and common features of note taking accommodations.  Then popular tools will be demonstrated, accompanied with a discussion on employing the accommodations with note taking strategies and suggestions for training.  This will cater to considerations for motor impairments and learning disabilities.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Participants will be able to identify five common barriers to note taking.
  2. Participants will be able to identify and describe the primary strength of three note taking strategies.
  3. Participants will be able to describe one advantage and disadvantage of five different note taking tools.
