Visual Supports to Increase Student Engagement

Have you had students who have trouble engaging in class? Having difficulty focusing on their work, or need organizational supports?  What does this have to do with being an AT Specialist?  EVERYTHING.  Student engagement is the first step in the Universal Design for Learning Process and has everything to do with technology, it just doesn't always involve batteries! In this session, participants will learn about several resources for increasing student engagement in the classroom, including those made with Boardmaker (Dynavox/Mayer Johnson), but also using other software.  After all, if the student isn't engaged, then learning will not occur.

Registration Deadline : Sunday, March 8, 2015 - 11:00pm
Learning Outcomes:
  1. Participants will understand how engagement leads to learning.
  2. Participants will be able to name different low tech strategies for increasing engagement.
  3. Participants will be able to problem solve different types of disengagement issues and match possible intervention ideas to the lack of engagement.
